"...The first is a test is to see whether a dog will stay with a person or property by his own free choice when there are opportunities to leave. Remember that no dog is of any use when he's gone. Even more important is the truth that a dog who lacks the responsibility to stay with his charges rarely makes a good protector when he is with them. Conversely, a dog who concerns himself with staying  where he belongs is one who will act effectively when his charges are threatened..." - William Koehler - Former Instructor for the U.S. Army K9 Corps

Fun Fact: The Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security sourced up to 90 percent of their dogs from European breeders, one of our few vital security needs that was once effectively outsourced. Not so any longer because they were needed in their own countries and our country cannot rely on foreign countries for its national security. Domestic American breeders are now stepping up to begin breeding protection and detection dogs.
