About Karma Carmella of Lutzhaus

Carmella was our "pick of the litter" from our 1st Generation breeding (and sole breeding) from our Heidi and CH Winsome's Rocky Bearboa II. We had sold and placed her, but it was what we now believe to be fate and destiny we were able to get ownership of her back. We truly believe her return to us was "karma," and so we changed her name! Now her full titled name is Champion Karma Carmella of Lutzhaus CGC, TC, CHIC. She has a great temperament, good health, registered and tested OFA with a Canine Health Information Center with (CHIC) designation, and a great mother!

One morning while viewing the Smithsonian Channel, I discovered and watched an episode entitled SEAL Dog. After watching the episode, I was moved by the story and learned about the SEAL Dog Foundation. We were able to contact the former Navy SEAL Trevor Maroshek after researching and finding him on the internet. We asked him why he chose a German Shepherd as his Navy SEAL dog. Trevor told me, " the German Shepherd Dog is the best breed of dog in the world!" It was then we learned of the need for emotional support and therapy dogs for veterans suffering from PTSD and other disabilities.
 

I immediately  contacted the editor of the "Review," the official publication German Shepherd Dog Club of America about a possible article about the SEAL Dog story. The Club's Editor suggested I personally write the SEAL Dog Story which was published in their April 2016 edition. After doing some soul searching about the needs of our disabled veterans, I contacted the SEAL Dog Foundation about the possibility of donating dogs for veterans through the Foundation.

I was motivated to donate dogs for several reasons. Growing up as a child, our family lived an austere life. We had pet dogs, but I could only remember they were mixed breed mutts... Then something wonderful happened to our family. My father knew a relative of someone who had possession of 2 Champion purebred Poodles they were trying to place due to their owner's death. Our family's  financial priorities would never justify purchasing quality purebred dogs as those, but this family friend was just looking for a good home for them. So our family received these quality dogs for free. We had never owned quality purebred dogs before, nor had we ever experienced living with an intelligent breed. They were bred several times. It was a childhood experience never forgotten, preferring purebred dog breeds that excel in intelligence.

Remembering I had unexpectedly gotten possession and ownership of our Karma back, I decided to breed her and begin donating puppies to the SEAL Dog Foundation. We hope to continue donating puppies to veterans from every breeding. Potential buyers know that purchasing our puppies are helping with our expenses in donating quality dogs to our disabled American Veterans.

Sharon Todoroff is the owner of the Sire, Grand Champion Todorhaus Cloud Dragon "Drako" from our Karma's first litter.  Sharon received a male puppy from this litter and named him BlackHawk. He not only started his career by earning AKC points, but also winning a Best Puppy in Show (BPIS). Sharon later took Blackhawk to the 2017 German Shepherd Dog Club of America Nationals where he placed 6th in his puppy class. On June 10, 2018, Hawk won 1st Place in the GSDCA Midwest Futurity Senior Class and took Reserve Best in Futurity Dog. At the 2018 GSDCA Nationals Hawk won Futurity Victor! Karma has proven to be a great producer and mother. Our 2nd breeding was to the famous Rocco vom Mittelwest. From that breeding came our Pick Of the Litter (POL) Xoe DeLisi of Lutzhaus.  Xoe has been rated in the top 10 German Shepherds in the United States UKC in Conformation for most of 2018.
